Hey guys! Sorry it's taken me so long to post. You all know how life gets. ;) If freshman year has this much homework, what am I going to do in tenth grade?!
Anyway... I'm doing a post on three flavors of the two ounce VitaMuffins. There were more at my Shop Rite, but I just got these to try them out. I know how you foodie bloggers love these muffins, but I'll do a little explaining for those of you who don't.
The VitaLicious company makes VitaBrownies, VitaMuffins, VitaTops, VitaCakes, even VitaCoffee! Their goal is to make healthy and delicious baked goods that are full of essential vitamins and minerals. Sounds impossible? I can tell you that it's not! These muffins actually taste good.
Sugar-Free Velvety Chocolate: I had to get this sugar-free flavor because it was the only chocolate one, and I really wanted to review one of those for you. :) Don't worry though, there's no Splenda or aspartame. Just erythritol, a natural sugar alcohol. This flavor did taste a little bit more fake than the others, but still rich and chocolatey. I love the mini chips in it! When you microwave it, it goes all warm and melty.
Blue-Bran: Ergh... Unfortunately, I didn't really like this one. There was a little bit too much "bran" and not enough "blue". :D It kind of tasted a bit like soft cardboard. I know that sounds disgusting, but it wasn't that bad. I just wouldn't buy it again.
Golden Corn: My favorite flavor so far! It has all the makings of a regular corn muffin. You can't even tell that it's healthy for you! I can eat this one room temp or microwaved. I highly recommend this one!
Besides the vitamins, what else is in the nutrition label? Let's take a look.
Sugar-Free Chocolate
Not bad, not bad at all... :) I especially love the fiber.
I can only find these at Shop Rite, but some Whole Foods have them. I do have to warn you, they're a bit expensive!
Price: $4.25 per four muffin box
Calories: 80-100 per two-ounce muffin
I would love to eat vita muffins every day for breakfast, but they are SO expensive! They are good for you, though.
ReplyDeleteYou should try Penny's Low Fat Desserts! I like the flavor and texture better!
ReplyDeleteI'm just not sold on the vitaTops. I didn't know they had sugar free flavors. I dunno, the non sugar-free flavors weren't my favorite, so I can only imagine how the sugar free ones taste! I hear they taste better when heated up though, so perhaps I should try them again!
ReplyDeleteit seems it year 10 i have so little homework, but i know next year i will be loaded so i hope i can keep up
ReplyDeleteI am literally obsessed with vita products. The brownies are to.die.for. you MUST try them!
ReplyDelete*Sighs*
ReplyDeleteNot avaible in stores for canadians, but you can shop online.
...6.99$ for 4. (Oh poor wallet!)
i absolutely LOVE vitamuffins! they are super healthy and have such great tasting flavors :)

WOW. They look good! Pity they're not available here:(
ReplyDeleteThey look tasty and healthy! I will have to look for them sometime.
ReplyDeleteI've always wondered what a vitatop/muffin/whatever tastes like. I hear people talk about them all the time..... Thanks for the review!
ReplyDeleteSorry you have so much homework, but it'll prepare you for a good work ethic needed in college. And good for you for doing homework first and then blogging! (okay, now my teacher self is coming out... sorry!)
I'm such a fan of vitamuffins, and I've been a devotee for quite some time now. I started ordering them from the on-line site and then freezing them myself. They keep pretty well in the freezer, and it is cheaper to buy them in bigger quantities. I'm a huge fan of the peanut butter fudge and triple chocolate chunk vita top varieties. YUM! Thanks for your review, and I hope you get to try more flavors soon!
ReplyDeletea little expensive but it seems that they're worth trying! :)
ReplyDeleteahh ive never tried a vita muffin...maybe one day, when i get rich :)
ReplyDeleteI love Vitatops, but have not had the pleasure to try the Vitamuffins. No Shope Rite near me. Gotta try my luck at Whole Foods. Thanks for the review.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with school work.
I am obsessed with the Golden Corn vita top... so delicious! I love them with blueberry jelly in the morning, you should give that a try sometime :)
ReplyDeleteAnd food staples? Hmmm....
-almond butter & peanut butter
-hemp bread
-hemp milk
-cheese of all kinds! muenster, gouda, brie, cheddar, etc..
-oatmeal
-green beans (always in the fridge)
-vita tops! :D
-Clif bars & Larabars
-apples
-soy nuts, almonds, and sunflower seeds
I'm not very into premade products... as you can see I really love Whole Foods! But I tend to eat those things about every day :)
I love the banana nut vitamuffins! I need to try more flavors. Thanks for the reviews!
