Arrowhead Mills Puffed Kamut Cereal

I am a huge cereal fan, but most of the brands that you see on grocery store shelves are full of sugar, and calories as well. Meet puffed kamut cereal! A few brands make kamut cereals, but he best in my opinion is Arrowhead Mills. Kamut has a slightly nutty, sweet taste to it that can satisfy your sugar craving without messing up your health. When paired with unsweetened almond milk, the flavor is even better. This cereal has become a staple to get me going in the morning. Puffed cereal comes in a variety of flavors, but kamut is my favorite! Arrowhead Mills makes puffed cereals of corn, millet, rice, and wheat. Now, this is probably all sounding good to you, but how does this cereal stack up nutritionally?

1 cup of this cereal is only 50 calories! Yes, that's right, only 50 calories. The corn puffs are a little higher at 60 calories, but that's okay because the kamut taste better anyway. Aside from the low calories, this cereal has a few other nutritional benefits, like 4g of protein and 2g of fiber, which will keep you nice and full. I prefer my cereal drier, so I just use 1/4 cup milk to every 1 cup cereal. 1/4 cup of my favorite almond milk is around 10 calories! So 60 calories for a huge bowl of cereal. What more could you ask for?! Did I mention that these cereals come in eco packs? You no longer have to reuse or recycle the boxes, and the lack of a box means the cereal is cheaper too.

  1. I mix 10 cups up in 2 tablespoons seasame oil, garlic salt and seasoning and bake for 30 minutes in 250...then toss in parmesan cheese for a snack!

  7. For all the cooking I do, I have never even heard of kamut. I'm going to pick some of this cereal up at Whole Foods this week to give it a try. Thanks for the tip!

  8. I went hunting for this last time I was at Whole Foods. They did not have the Kamut in Arrowheadmills, but I did find them in the Nature's Path brand. I love to much on these when I have those snack attacks.

  9. I agree with you, the puffed kamut is delicious. It's my favorite snack after my work out. I always eat 1 cup without milk just add 2 tbsp of honey. That takes care of my sweet tooth. Thanks to everybody that shared their recipes, I'm sure going to try some of those.
