Quorn Chik'n Tenders

Vegetarian or not, Quorn Chik'n Tenders are delicious meat substitutes. What are they exactly? They're not really tenders as the name suggests, but actually little cubes of "meat" made out of mycoprotein, a type of fungi, but trust me, it does not taste like a mushroom at all. You can use them in stir fries, kabobs, casseroles... Anything really! I actually like to grill them plain and then dip them in sauce. They are delicious, and taste just like grilled chicken. Another perk is that they don't need to be thawed from the freezer before cooking, jusstick them in a pan and you're good to go. The funny part is I gave a piece to my mom and asked her what she thought it was and she gave me a strange look and said, "Chicken... obviously." :) Hee hee. I'm so bad.

So what do these tenders have going for them nutritionally? Let's take a look. In the calorie department, a cup is 80 calories. And trust me, a cup of small cubes is HUGE! Besides the calories, a cup contains 10g of protein and 4g of fiber, making these filling and energizing. The only downside to these tenders for me are the price! At my local Whole Food's, it's around $7 a bag.

Look at them grilling! Yum.

Price: $7.39
Calories: 80 in 1 cup
